- Select Windows update form the list of troubleshooting options.
- Select Advanced and choose Run as administrator.
- Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart PC.
Reset Windows Update Component
- Press Windows + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type the following commands, press enter after each of them:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\\Windows\\System32\\catroot2 Catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
- Reboot your PC.
Perform a Clean Boot
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
- Type msconfig in the Run dialog box and click OK.
- In the System Configuration Window, click the Services tab, check the box next to Hide all Microsoft services, and then Disable all.
- Switch to the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager.
- Select each Startup item, and then click Disable.
- Exit Task Manager.
- Reboot your PC.
