A Dot plot also (called Dot chart) is a graphical display of data points which are shown on a simple scale. Each of the dot represents number of observations from a set of data. Dot plots are used for continuous, quantitative, univariate data. They are suitable for limited and small data. Dot plots have a advantage that is conservation of numerical information.
