A tringle is a very basic shape of geometry. It is a polygon which has three edges and three vertices.
Properties of Triangle
- A triangle has 3 edges and 3 angles.
- The sum of all the three angles is always 180⁰.
Types of Triangles
- Equilateral triangle
- Isosceles triangle
- Scalene triangle
Equilateral Triangle
An equilateral triangle is regular polygon in which all the sides are of same length. All the angles of an equilateral triangle measure 60⁰.
Isosceles Triangle
An isosceles triangle is a type of triangle in which two sides are of equal length. It also has 2 angles of same measure.
Scalene Triangle
A scalene triangle is triangle which does not have any sides with equal length. All the angles of scalene triangle are of different measures.
Triangle can also be differentiated on the basis of angle:
- Acute triangle
- Right triangle
- Obtuse triangle
Acute Triangle
In acute triangle all the interior angles are measured less than 90⁰.
Right Triangle
In right triangle or right-angled triangle one of the interior angle is a 90⁰ and the side opposite to the angle is the longest side of the triangle known as hypotenuse of the triangle.
Obtuse Triangle
An obtuse triangle or obtuse-angled triangle is a triangle which has an interior angle greater than 90⁰.
Perimeter of a Triangle
The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of the lengths of all the edges of the triangle.
Area of a Triangle
Area of a triangle is the half of the product of base and height.
A= (b x h)/2
This formula can be used to find area of any triangle.
